Pfizer settles remaining Nigeria, U.S. Trovan suits (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Pfizer Inc said it has settled every outstanding lawsuits involving accusations that it proven the experimental bactericide Trovan on children in Nigeria during a 1996 meningitis occurrence without receiving competent prior consent.

Financial cost of the deciding were not disclosed, but writing filed in U.S. federal suite in New York noted the unmediated dismissal of pending cases involving allegations of alteration to children who were given the drug during the clinical investigating in Nigeria.

Pfizer has argued that meningitis and not its bactericide led to deaths of 11 children and alteration to dozens of others in the 200-patient effort in the African land of Kano.
