NRC sanctions Pa. doc in flawed cancer treatments (AP)

PHILADELPHIA – The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has authorised a doctor who performed nearly 100 unskilled endocrine cancer procedures at Philadelphia's VA Medical Center.

The NRC says Dr. metropolis Kao cannot take conception in agency-related activities without undergoing more training. A scrutiny physicist was also authorised Wednesday.

The commission institute Kao took conception in 91 procedures in which veterans conventional incorrect doses from radioactive seeds implanted in the endocrine to blackball cancer cells. It institute some of Kao's patients conventional depleted doses because he implanted seeds in nearby meat or surrounding tissue.

Kao told a senate commission in 2009 that he acted in patients' best interest. A sound communication mitt for Kao's attorney was not directly returned.

The NRC punished the VA infirmary $227,500 terminal year.
