8 Fla. nurses sentenced for Medicare fraud (AP)

MIAMI – Eight South Florida nurses and a patietnt hit been sentenced for their persona in a $18.7 million Medicare fraud scam.

Prosecutors say the nurses forged files to attain it seem like patients necessary bag upbeat tending services they didn't order or never received. The nurses conventional sentences weekday ranging from 5 months to 30 years.

They were indicted in July, along with Dr. Jorge Dieppa.

Some of the nurses also helped enlist patients. One of the patients, 76-year-old Alfredo Zayas, was sentenced to two eld probation. She says she accepted money for allowing her Medicare sort to be used for phoney treatments.

Dieppa is awaiting trial.
